What Is Plasma Fibroblast? Who’s ready for this amazing new treatment? It will help diminish fine lines and wrinkles, as well as lighten dark spots and tighten up almost any area on the body where you experience loose skin. The Plasma Pen works by utilizing carbon dioxide released from the skin to form a plasma charge. An electrical arc is created, immediately shrinking the targeted skin. The tiny plasma flash causes ‘carbon crusts’ to form on the skin giving the distinctive dotting effect. This micro-trauma stimulates new collagen, a process called neocollagenesis. The tissue instantly shrinks and tightens and will continue to tighten over the next 8-12 weeks. Soft surgery is often used when describing this treatment, because it delivers surgical results without a scalpel and with minimal to no downtime. Keep in mind that surgical methods are far more expensive and come with higher risk (anesthesia, stitches, swelling, long downtime, complications) while the end results are comparable with the Plasma Fibroblast treatment.
How Long Does It Last? Effects should last as long as they would with invasive surgery. However, plasma fibroblast does not stop the aging process. There are lifestyle factors that can prevent the result from lasting, such as smoking, alcohol consumption, and prolonged sun exposure. The providers at Beauty By Bo provide comprehensive treatment plans to ensure the patient is on the proper skin regimen to get the most longevity out of results.
Who Is Not a Candidate? Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not get a treatment. The treatment is also not advised for candidates with very dark skin, due to the risk of hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation. Other contraindications include pacemaker, active infection, uncontrolled diabetes, history of keloid scarring, malignant melanoma in the past 6 months, those taking photosensitive medication or Accutane the past 3 months, and epilepsy. Plasma fibroblast is never to be used on birth marks or port wine stains. It is recommended to wait at least 3 weeks after Botox injections to have this treatment. Those with cataracts or retinal detachment must have clearance from ophthalmologist before treating the eye areas.
It is recommended that sun protection of SPF 30-50 be used daily for at least two weeks prior to the Plasma Fibroblast treatment.
Skin care products with ingredients such as retinols, alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs), tretinoin or any type of vitamin a derivative should be avoided.
Excessive sun exposure, tanning salons, and self-tanning products should be avoided for two weeks leading up to the treatment.
On the treatment day, it is recommended that you arrive with clean and dry skin, that means no make-up or moisturizer is worn (don’t worry, we aren't judging). We suggest taking an antihistamine the night before treatment and again when you arrive home after your appointment. Continue taking antihistamines for two to three days to reduce swelling in the treatment area.
A numbing cream is placed on the treatment area to minimize discomfort. When the area is sufficiently numb the treatment will begin. During the treatment you may feel some heat and minor irritation. Swelling may intensify over the following few hours when eyes are treated and may last 2-3 days.
Treatment time will last from 45 minutes and up to several hours depending on the size of the treatment area.
After treatment, clients should expect redness and swelling. Occasional weeping may occur which is a natural healing response. We recommend the use of cold packs directly after treatment to reduce the swelling in the area and speed up recovery. DO NOT PICK OR SCRUB THE CARBON CRUSTS. Note that after the crusts are lost, a slight redness may remain in the following weeks to months. It usually takes 4-6 weeks until the skin has reached its normal color again.
A burn cream will be provided and used for 2 days post-treatment. At that point, the provided TCM scar cream will be used until healing is complete. The carbon crusts will lift within 5-10 days depending on the individual and area treated. Results gradually improve over the course of the following 8-12 weeks. During the healing phase it is important to remember:
Did we mention not to pick at the crusts?
For most patients, one treatment session provides sufficient results. In the event of result dissatisfaction, other surrounding areas must be considered for treatment before re-treating the same area.
Here at Beauty by Bo we strive to provide you with the highest standard in skincare. When you are considering Plasma Fibroblast with us at our Manahawkin, New Jersey location, we understand you might have some questions about the service. Here's a few of our FAQs to get started!
Plasma Fibroblast non-surgical rejuvenation has increased in popularity due to its many advantages over surgery One of the major advantages of Plasma is that it offers a much less invasive/expensive alternative to surgery as well as the time it takes to carry out. Other benefits are virtually a pain-free treatment, minimal side effects and downtime, significantly lower cost, and instantly visible NATURAL results.
Plasma is the 4th state of matter, (the first 3 being solids, liquids + gas). Matter achieves this state when you supply enough energy to split atoms into electrons. The result is a cloud of free, negatively charged electrons and positively charged ions, radicals, and molecules. This cloud that consists of charged particles is called Plasma.
Treatment is delivered using an electronic handpiece, the plasma pen. This precision device is fitted with an applicator tip (metal probe) which enables the transfer of energy to the skin by utilizing the voltage in the air between the device tip and skin to generate a plasma charge. The transfer of energy to the skin takes place only when the applicator tip has a distance of approximately 0.5 mm to the skin, which means it does not come into direct contact with the skin. The visible result of the treatment is a thermal skin reaction, the so-called plasma points. Each plasma spot creates an effect radius that contracts the skin in the immediate vicinity. Due to the optimal arrangement of the dots, an effect grid is created which causes an instant and significant tightening of the targeted area. (The treated area is sublimated (converted directly to vapor) using the plasma beam without damage to the deeper skin or muscle). The tissue retraction gives results that are comparable to invasive surgery.
