Laser skin resurfacing is a non-surgical procedure that uses concentrated laser energy to “ablate”, or remove, the uppermost layers of the skin. Removing the damaged, old, and worn upper layers of the skin reveals the smoother, younger, and brighter skin underneath, achieving a more youthful, rejuvenated look. The laser energy also penetrates the skin surface to stimulate collagen production and skin cell regeneration, giving you smoother, tighter, and firmer skin.
Fractional CO2 is the most effective modality of laser skin resurfacing, and it has been used for years to treat wrinkles, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, enlarged pores, excess oil production, etc. The fractional CO2 procedure uses short pulses of light energy in a continuous stream to remove the damaged layers of the skin without causing severe damage. The procedure uses minimal heat energy, which, in turn, causes minimal side effects and ensures faster recovery.
CoolPeel provides CO2 facial resurfacing without the extended downtime! In 10 minutes you can target texture, pigmentation, fine lines, and wrinkles, with only a few days of redness.
Avoid any prolonged exposure to the sun for 4 weeks prior to your treatment. If you must be in the sun briefly, use a zinc oxide sunscreen of at least SPF 30+.
Discontinue any irritant topical agents for 2-3 days prior to treatment. Topical retinoid therapy and chemical exfoliants should be discontinued 3-5 days prior to treatment. Bleaching products should be discontinued 2 days prior to treatment.
We recommend that for 1 week pre-treatment, you moisturize skin in the morning and evening, and drink at least 8 glasses of water per day to completely hydrate your skin and optimize treatment results.
Blood thinning medications such as Coumadin, Xarelto, Eliquis, Heparin, and Brlinta can affect your heal time. Talk to your prescriber about these medications and if you must remain on them for treatment, expect a longer heal time with extended bleeding/bruising/swelling.
Men must be totally clean shaven prior to procedure, as hair present on the face can cause sparking or burns on the skin.
CoolPeel Treatments will cause redness/swelling for a day or 2, with sandpaper feeling skin for about 3-7 days post treatment. Deeper level CO2 treatments may have longer heal times, lasting longer than 7 days.
Gentle skin cleanser may be used twice a day, followed by gentle moisturizers. For the first 5 days, an emollient should be used to keep the skin moist, do not let the skin dry out. Some examples of healing emollients are Cerave, Cetaphil, Eucerin, and Aquaphor. Cold packs may be applied to skin to help with feeling of sunburn/heat.
Makeup should be avoided 5-7 days after treatment to avoid infection/irritation of the newly generating skin.
Avoid sun exposure, intense workouts and sweating until redness has completely resolved.
The skin will have more swelling and “wound” like healing, this will require vinegar soaks.
Mix 1 tbsp of white vinegar in 1 cup of cool water, and using a gauze or soft washcloth, pat the skin, followed by a cool water rinse. Do not pick or peel at skin. A repair serum may be purchased at the Manahawkin location to be applied twice a day.
